Subsonic filter or not12/8/2023 ![]() These FMODs have caught my eye, but I was told to go the Project 99 route. This is why I made this thread: I am looking for suggestions on a subsonic filter to protect my SDX12 subwoofer drivers in ported enclosures. Im trying my denon amp (bass maxed out so i don't have to turn the volume to high, only the bass) and it seems theres a little less excessive movements of the woofer but still not 100% perfect like when playing a cd or tidal. However, I use a Crown XLS2500W amp which does not have a subsonic filter. I get more more movements at higher levels and if play music with lot's of bass My answer to why subsonic filters arent more common is because not enough people have asked for one and been prepared to pay the extra to get it. ![]() Your amp has 100 amps worth of fuses mounted. I dont want to use a stiffer cart because the tracking weight goes up for equal tracking performance so I use a subsonic filter -3dB at 30Hz and -12dB per octave, the benefit is huge. Isolation feet sounds expensive and i need, want adjustable feet, i just can't level my basic turntabel shelf (i use foam feet that are used under table, chairs and other furniture to prevent damage something like a wooden floor to levbel my turntable), if a subsonic filter is better or i have to use both i don't know The subsonic filter is a High Pass crossover. Infrasonic or subsonic are sound waves below par at a certain frequency that can reach a human ear. What I really wanted was to do was adjust the filter for a predetermined cutoff frequency that corresponded exactly to the maximum excursion capability of my new Audiopulse vented subwoofer. I have tried youtube bass test and at a normal level i don't hear anything at 40hz, i would than set it to something like 35hz, not go crazy and set it to 40hz and it should do the same thing as a subsonic filter but also makes the sound clearer since bass is cut under 35hz by 12 db pr octave or what is the limited? Definitely not optimized for HT and certainly not for a subwoofer that is, by design, flat to 20 Hz. I would want for the -3 db point to start at around 18 Hz, I think, and Im not sure the last one does. Subsonic / Rumble Filter for Phono preamps and Sub-Woofers. I can play as loud as my amp+speakers alows me (+ the newly discovered excessive movements of my woofer when playing lp's) with no high pitched sound like when a mic is to close to a speaker (not shure what it's called in english) Touching the side of my turntabel (no skipping of the cartridge) gives me more movements of the wooferĬould it be my amp ? Default ? (haven't tried a different amp) I tried to change back to the stock cartridge that is a disco,pa cartridge at 2 gr tracking force
